Where did we go wrong?
"I learned it by watching you, dad! I learned it by watching you!"
Eleanor love, love, loves to go through the recycling bin. She pulls out the cans and bottles one by one and spreads them around the kitchen. The bin is right at her level and everything inside is shiny, clanky and sometimes tasty. See above. That was her trying to finish off her dad's cream soda last week. I've mentioned before how it annoys me that these bottles look so much like beer, but in this case it makes a pretty funny picture.

Then today she learned a new trick.
I ask you, "How do you get your kids interested in saving the planet?"

I forgot to mention how much I love it that when I ask her what she is doing, she actually answers me. She mumbles something into the trash. So funny.
Umm...what the chinese?!? looks like you might need to go private. ha. just kidding.
This is too funny! I love love love the video!! So fun! I was going to say something about her mumbling too. Just like a lil drunk. haha. Just kidding. She is just too darn cute!!
boyce is in love! You should see the smile and look in his eyes when he watches videos of Eleanor. Maybe someday we will see each other again.
I love how the Cream Sodas look like beer cans! That is a priceless picture, and something you should put on her future wedding video! By the way I love the cakes you made (I looked at your other blog) You are so talented!
That video is hilarious! I love that she has to sample whatever is left over in the bottles, totally something Cadance would do!
Hey, I just tried to leave a comment on your other blog (thanks to Angela for mentioning it) but couldn't! I just wanted to say that those cakes were awesome and I may be needing your services in the near future... :)
Here's how you get your kids interested in saving the planet: send them to a public elementary school. They must be teaching environmental awareness this week. Today Damon picked up garbage all the way home (we walk to and from school) and then wrote "Help the World" on the driveway with chalk.
I love that picture of Eleanor the wino. That's the funniest pic I've seen in a long time.
Perhaps Eleanor knows that aluminum and iron are about the only materials we can recycle efficiently. She may know that plastic and glass create more carbon emissions in the recycling process than they save by creating items from new raw materials. If she is aware of this, then she is being more eco-conscious than most adults!
Oh, and the landfill talking point is also a non-issue. Someone did the math on a 35x35 mile landfill and figured it alone could store all of the United States refuse for the next 100 years or so.
Just one more reason to love Eleanor. (BTW, I'm going through all your old posts and making a baby DVD for grandma).
