Three posts in one day???

This is very Lisa Higginson of me. She is the super one-day blogger. I still have one giant old post to catch up on from our trip, but I just had to complete my thoughts on the Twilight books. I loved them all. I read them all so fast that I had this enormous empty feeling when I was done. (Harry Potter anyone?) I love a good fast read, and I love series. So I am asking you, all nine or so of you, for some great book recommendations. Favorite books, fast reads, hard books, funny books, children's books... I don't care. Just preferably something you have read yourself so I am getting a first person account. I love just about every type of book, so feel free to name the obscure or off the wall. I will have to soon post a list of some of my favorites. It will take a while though. In the meantime I am asking for your help. Thanks in advance.

You should join that goodreads online club, and find Michelle and she can tell you about all the good books she reads all the time.

Okay Marianne, I know this is sooo lame, but try 'The Host'. I know...more Stephanie Myer...but really pretty good.

even though i just left another big comment, i'm going to answer this one as well.

faves: to kill a mockingbird (if you haven't read it since high school, it's worth a reread). peace like a river by leif enger. extremely loud and incredibly close by jonathan safran foer. i've got others with 5 stars on goodread, but those are the 3 favorites.

Ugh, I hate that feeling after you read a series way too fast and are just left with nothing to obsess over. Harry Potter was totally that way for me.

Funny, I was just thinking about asking you for book recommendations for my lame-o trip to Alaska, during which I'm going to be room-bound with Lucy after 7 pm.

I haven't read a real book for what feels like forever, but let me rack my brain for stuff I've liked...I did like Peace Like a River like leigh. There's also this teen fiction book (oh how I love a nice easy teen fiction read. I'm so lazy) called 'Speak' that I remember liking-until the end, which I remember being a little disapointed by, but still, really good. I also liked 'Durable Goods' and 'Joy School' by Elizabeth Berg (who I think might be generally an old-lady writer...you know, lots of flowers on the covers and stories about 40 year old divorcees. But these are about a 11-ish year old girl, and they are good and easy and entertaining).

Okay, your turn. Do you have any easy and mindless recommendations for my lockdown on the cruise ship?

I love the author Sara Bird...she wrote a funny little romancy type book called "The Boyfriend School" that was sadly made into a really really horrible movie staring NO LIE steve guttenberg and jami gertz AND shellie Long. ALL STAR. But the books are funny and fun.

Also, loved The Time Travelers Wife by Audrey Niffeneger. Couldn't put it down.

I'm back- also, 'Life of Pi' and 'A Tree Grows in Brooklyn'.

Am I fooling myself thinking that I have read ANY book you haven't?

Shauna- I actually own Life of Pi and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, and haven't read either. So yay! When do you leave on your cruise? Maybe I'll e-mail you for a better way of communicating.

Everyone else- Thanks for the tips! I love getting good recommendations, and will be hitting the library today.

Hey Marianne, I know this comment is late, but I feel the same way as you... I LOVED the Twilight books and felt empty when I had finished. What was I going to read next? I am currently reading Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult. It is about a junior in high school that has been bullied his whole life and retaliates. It's sad, but really good!
Next on my list to read - The Last Lecture by Rausch and then The Uglies series. Everyone has read it (you probably have too). I really like to read series.
You should sign up for goodreads.com. It's pretty good. If you do, find me and we can be "friends".
Hope you're doing well!!
